Erosion control is any practice that protects the soil surface and prevents the soils particles from being detached by rainfall or wind.
Sediment Control is any practice that traps the soil particles after they have been detached by wind or water.
Erosion and sediment control measures include the following: Buffer Strips, Silt Fence, Minnesota Mulch Logs, Storm Drain Inlet Protection, Culvert Protection, Erosion Control Blankets, Seeding and Mulching. Hydro Mulching and Hydro Seeding, Temporary Ditch Checks, Rip Rap and Hay or Straw Bale Barriers.
